San Francisco, CA (NursingSalary.org)-  When graduating high school, many students are faced with the tough choice of what they want to do with their lives. They can either go on to find some type of full time job to pay the bills, or they can choose to go through some more college. They may find a great job right out of high school that pays well, but chances are they will have to go to college to find a job of their liking. Once they decided to go to college, they have another tough choice of what they want to do with their life. Most students obviously have a good idea of what they want to be. Some have no clue, but everyone wants to make a ton of money. What would be a dream job for most people? For many, a doctor or nurse is what they envision. This is pretty obvious, but most people figure that they would not have the brains to go through college. It is definitely not a walk in the park, but with the right determination, you can make it through. This article will be the extra motivation by showing you the advantages of being a nurse.

First off, you do not have to complete 8 years of college to get a nursing degree. You can get a BSN in 10-12 months, which would be through an accelerated nursing program. You may not think this would be the best route because it would just look “cheap” on a resume, but studies show otherwise. The amount of registered nurses with a BSN or higher has gone up to 50%, which is twice as much as what it was before. People think in the future that number will rise all the way to 65%.

By the year of 2018, there are an estimated total of 580,000 job openings for being a nurse. This means that there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get a job with a degree. Many people think that a lot of the jobs are filled, which was true a few years ago, but that is no longer true. This is because of the number of people that will be retiring in the coming years along with the health care reform bill.

With all of this information stated, you should know pretty well what you want to do with your life. Now go on and live the dream!
